What do you want to be when you grow up?

It's a question that we answer so honestly and with conviction when we're younger and start to mumble a response to as we get older.

I started with nurse, then vet (good traditional choices), then went for fashion designer or interior designer (both rarely voiced out loud as I thought they were unlikely to be achievable), and then I dabbled with ideas of barrister or marketing (obviously just out for the money here). And now I've reached a stage where I am actually working for a living, and still asking myself what do I want to do when I grow up?As I've rediscovered art and added more creativity to my life, I've discovered more and more people making a living from doing what they love and sharing it with the world. And I'm finding my favourite books and films are filled with characters overcoming adversity to achieve their dreams and taking the leap to doing what they love. It's like being in the middle of a French patisserie shop and trying to resist the scrumptious pastries, or standing at a party with 7 delicious waiters all offering you a glass of champagne, or waiting in a pet store trying to decide which gorgeous little kitten you're going to take home. You get the idea - how do you choose?! They all look like the right decision. My mum always told me I could do whatever I wanted to do, no dream is too big - but how do you pick!Do I want to give it all up to bake delicious cupcakes, do I want to abandon the city to open a beachside ice cream parlour, do I want to own a boutique cafe, do I want to rise early to bake artisan breads, or spend my days at flower markets and become a florist?

what will i be

(a few logo ideas for my new ventures!)

How can you ever decide what you should devote yourself to for the rest of your life? Surely no one is grown up enough to make that decision, so really, it seems a bit cruel to expect an answer from a 6 year old!So tell me, how many of you are in the same boat, still deciding what you want to do when you grow up? Are you doing what you'd answered when you were asked What do you want to be when you grow up?
